Be jxtremely careful to hunt only on that property in which you have permission. Because of the heavy hunting pressure in Madison during this early season trespassing has been a major problem.
Rappahannock’s early season will be from the 1st through the 14th of October. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has echoed earlier reports by Ducks Unlimited of greatly improved conditions on waterfowl breeding grounds this summer. Breeding populations are reported to be 12 percent above a year ago and the water area available for breeding is double that of last year. The duck hatch is rated as good to excellent and is expected to produce a fall flight markedly higher than in 1968.
Virginia game wardens arrested 8,206 persons for violation of the state game, fish and boat laws during the past fiscal year, according to Game Commission Assistant Law Enforcement Chief
Arrests for game law violations accounted for 3,367 of the total. Violations of the fish laws prompted 3,747 arrests, down somewhat from the previous year. Some 1,092 persons were apprehended for boat law violations. Virginia game wardens inspected 47,604 boaters, 166,465 fishermen and 80,210 hunters.

Dennis Family Reunion
The Rev. W. B. Dennis home at Slate Mills was the scene of a family reunion last Sunday. His sons and daughters and their families included Tech. Sgt. and Mrs. H. B. Smoot and six children of Griffis Air Force Base, Rome, N. Y., Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Beddingfield and family and Mrs. Jack Dennis and family of Alexandria, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Lewis and family of Springfield, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon D. Henderson and three children of King George, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Payne and family and Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Dennis and family of Culpeper, Mr. and Mrs. Warren E. Dennis and family of Gainesville, Mr. and Mrs. William B. Dennis and three children of Winter Park, Florida visited Mr. Dennis’ father two weeks ago and were not able to attend the family reunion.
More than a dozen old family friends including Mr. and Mrs. Dick Wingate of Washington, D C. also attended the reunion.
