Letter To Citizens

of Rappahannock:

After the unfortunate events of six weeks ago, I was forced to close the Rappahannock IGA for a week in order to plan my course of action. I returned to Rappahannock to turn the business over to the grocery company for auction. When I arrived, many people came to me and pleaded with me to remain and keep the store in operation. They expressed the feeling that the county needed the store and the services provided by it. I was most encouraged and reopened with the promise of county support and backing.

Now I am compelled to make another decision concerning the future of,the Rappahannock IGA due to the lack of support from county residents. I do not have the customer backing that the; previous management enjoyed.

I have tried my utmost to improve the appearance of the store and, more importantly, the! quality of our products. I have strived to provide fast competent, friendly service.

Some price increases have been necessary to meet rising manufacturers costs. As this is true in most areas, I continue to provide my customers with more quality products for less money. I will attempt to pass savings along 10 my customers whenever possible.

To set the record straight, the ., >ppahannock IGA is owned and operated solely by me. All connections with the former management have been severed.

I have done all I can. It is now ■i p to the people of Rappahannock whether the IGA remains open or ceases to operate. Without more support from county citizens, I must close. The decision is up to you.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank my faithful customers for their help and support during my period of adjustment. I sincerely hope I can continue to serve you.
