The Department of Highways is joining with road-user and industry groups to mark the event, which is sponsored annually by the American Association of State Highway Officials.
Most of the department’s districts and residencies have planned various activities to point up the benefits that highways provide to Virginians.
Some offices will have open houses that will enable citizens to learn about highway plans, equipment and procedures. Other will arrange construction tours for public officials and representatives of the news media. Still others will provide speeches and slide presentations for school classes or civic groups. Some will offer combinations of these activities.
