PANTHER TALES

School is now back to normal after a week of testing for the eighth, ninth, and eleventh grade students.
The SC A held a meeting Friday in which more discussions of the magazine campaign and district meeting were held. The magazine campaign begins on October 3, and the classes have already begun the competition. The class with the highest amount of sales will be presented twenty-five dollars, while the class with the least amount will get only two cents. So don’t settle for being the lowest class, get out and work! There will be drawings of basketball tickets and a blanket with the Rappahannock Panthers on it.
The Junior Class held a meeting Friday to elect their officers. President is C. G. Thornhill, Vice President, Lois Yates, and Secretary and Treasurer, Billy Payne.
A meeting of the F.H.A. was held Monday. The President,
Martha O’Bannon, led a discussion of a Bake Sale at Leggett’s Dept. Store and Murphy’s in Culpeper on Saturday, September 20. Please help to contribute to this organization.
The Freshman Class held a meeting to elect officers. They were, President Bobby Smelly, Vice President - Doug Larimer, Secretary Eddie Huff, and Treasurer - Steve Leake.
The Seniors are sponsoring a Ring Dance the twenty-sixth of September. Admission is a dollar per person. The band is “The Dynamic Souls”. Everyone plan to be there, and let’s make this dance a great success.
The Future Business Leaders of America held a meeting Monday. President, Betty Jenkins, led the discussion of a Bake Sale on October 4, at Bradford’s Store in Flint Hill and at Hackley’s Store in Amissville. Anyone who has taken a business course and wishes to join the F.B.L.A., please do so.
This week I have interviewed two Seniors of the Class of 1970. They are Teresa Cordani and Edward Bailey. Teresa plans to go into Nursing after she graduates. She is the Senior Class President and is a member of the Annual Staff. Edward plans to enter the Virginia State College next year. He is a member of the Varsity Club and also a member of the Future Farmers of America.
