Legislative Hearing
State Delegate Tom Frost, Chairman of the Virginia Advisory Legislative Council’s Committee to Study Mechanics’ Lien Laws, announced today that his Committee will 'conduct a public hearing in House Room No. 3 at the State Capitol Thursday, September 11, 1969, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
This study was directed by House Joint Resolution No. 135 at the 1968 Regular Session of the Virginia General Assembly. The Resolution requires that the study not only consider changes to the existing State mechanics’ and materialmen’s lien laws but
highway program.
Perhaps the most important-and lasting-feature that will be called to citizens’ attention during Highway Week is the department’s and industry’s emphasis on safe, modern roads.
Motorists will have 100 more miles of four-lane divided highways than they had last autumn. The roads include new sections of the arterial network and the interstate and regular primary systems.
The state’s 1,070-mile interstate system now has 680 miles open to traffic and an additional 150 miles under construction. The 1,738-mile arterial network is nearing the halfway point.
