Birds to Family
Would you like to have more birds in your yard? All you need to do is provide for their comfort, and they will flock to your home and sing their thanks. Most of the things they need are easy to supply and are not expensive.
The population explosion, and the hectic pace of modem society is a problem for birds as well as humans. New housing developments remove trees and brush and thus destroy nesting sites and food. The draining of wet lands and the building of super highways is equally harmful.
Birds have about five basic needs. Supply these and you will have many more birds around your home. To survive and perpetuate their kind, birds must have food, water, shelter from hot and cold weather, nesting sites, and protection from predators.
Food for birds is easy to supply. A bird feeder will provide the cafeteria service they enjoy most. Also, plant some berry-producing shrubs which will add beauty to your landscape, and food for your feathered friends. Some trees and shrubs which supply food for birds are Japanese Barberry, Birch, Blueberry, Buckthorn, Chokeberry, Elder, Larch, Mountain Ash, Mulberry, Privet and Viburnum.
