TNew Legislation Concerning Veterans

Two bills, passed by Congress and affecting veterans’ benefits, were signed by President Nixon on October 30,1969.

They are:

Public Law 91-101

which eliminates the six

months time limitation on

Nursing Home Care for

veterans with

se rvice-connected

dis abilities.

Pu blic Law 91-102 which

authorizes the Veterans

A dministration to furnish

iriedical services for

n onservice-connected

disabilities to veterans

totally disabled from a

service-connected disability. More detailed information including effective dates and terminology may be obtained at any office of the Virginia Division of War Veterans’ Claims.

Mr. Broyles states that according to the 1960 census 9,419 individuals over twenty-five years of age in Culpeper, Madison and Orange Counties have not completed the eighth grade. This represents 26.03% of the total population of these counties. He urges those who are eligible for this program to come out to Piedmont Vocational School on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. He points out that several who began in this program have now received their GED certificates. Four people out of the last seventeen granted a GED Certificate began with the Adult Basic Education Program.

Mr. Broyles and his staff welcome visitors to Piedmont Vocational School at anytime and remind the public that the school is open in the evenings Monday thru Thursday.
