fresh water. Fresh water is recommended because the water for soaking will have cooled considerably and it may have become quite discolored from the dirt which was released during the soak.

The enzyme containing products can be used on colored, as well as white fabrics. Directions warn against using on silk or wool, however.

The detergents containing enzymes are for regular use in washing or for soaking the clothes prior to washing them. The enzymes remove less soil in a ten minute wash than in a 30 minute soak; however, repeated use of a detergent containing enzymes can prevent a build-up of protein soil or can gradually remove protein stains.

These new products are welcome additions to the supplies available to homemakers to keep the family laundry clean and stain free.
