Hackley’s Store
Hackley’s Store at Amlssville was entered duringg the night Sunday or early Monday morning and a large steel safe was cracked. The front of the safe, a sheet of steel, was peeled off, the cement filling chipped away and the dial mechanism broken. According to Prank Lasley, investigator with the Department of State Police, an estimated $650 was taken in cash and checks. Some personal papers, as Insurance, etc. were also tidcen in haste, but were recovered later Cast of Amissville along with Some of the checks.
Hackley’s Store is a general store operated by Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Hackley. It was burglarized a few weeks ago at which time only merchandise was taken.
Wounds Self with Rifle
Elmer Fincham of Washington, Va. is a patient in Winchester Memorial Hospital as a result of self-inflicted gunshot wounds. The shooting occurred late Saturday night, April 25 at the home of J. W. Clatterbuck where he was staying. The weapon used was a 22 calibre semi-automatic rifle and the bullet entered his body right under the left rib cage and exited under the shoulder blade. Sheriff C. K. Estes said Fincham’s condition was reported as satisfactory on Tuesday by the hospital.
