With Gold Cup

Warrenton, Va., - The spring agenda of steeplechase racing in the Old Dominion will close here Saturday, May 2 with the Virginia Gold Cup races. Starting at 2 p.m., the diversified program of turf, hurdle, brush and timber racing features the 45th running of the Virginia Gold Cup over a four-mile timber course.
Luring the largest entry of any timber race this season, the feature closed with 14 noted timber-toppers in the line-up. Clay Boy, owned by Thomas N. Dowd, Potomac, Md., looms as a lukewarm favorite in the large field.
