Country Music star, will be Marshal of the parade.
Capt. Wally Schirra, Jr., Mercury astronaut, will be the Grand Marshal of the Grand Feature parade on May 1, at 1:30 p.m. The 4V4 hour parade will feature 85 bands, 45 floats, scores of marching units and an advance division of antique cars. In addition to Schirra, Del Reeves will ride in the parade as well as the stars of the Festival’s Sports breakfast, Len Dawson of the Kansas City Chiefs, and Jesse Owens, Olympic champion and Track Immortal, and Jack Jones, singer and entertainer.
Saturday’s program, May 2, includes an all-day antique car meet; an all-day USTA Twirling Meet; and an all-day Country Music Jubilee, starring Hank Thompson and the Brazos Valley Boys.
