Madam Editor:
Thank you for the story and photographs in last week’s Rappahannock News concerning the Thornton River Cleanup. It was sad that only our fine Game Warden, Irvin Kenyon and three other Rappahannock residents took part. The others came from as far as 100 miles and shamed us all at the garbage and trash the Thornton is expected to carry downstream.
To these people who enjoy riding the white water in canoes it was a very enjoyable and worthwhile day. The next time they visit Rappahannock for the thrills and beauty of the Thornton River they won’t have to see the disgraceful filth we have dumped along the shores.
Let’s make them honorary Rappahannock citizens! They’ll have to clean up our river again before long.
