Dear Sir:
I think it is unfortunate that citizens throw tljeir trash wherever they happen to be whether it is in the river, on the highway, or what-have-you.
I don’t throw trash anywhere. Can’t even bring myself to toss down a paper cup on a carnival ground. I am, however, not above picking up trash and usually do in my front yard after a weekend. I do not think it sad that only a few local people joined the canoists in the river clean-up. There are not many of us, including me, who own a canoe and accessories, or know how to use one. It was a little too chilly for most folk to wade the stream that Sunday and retrieve trash.

Please advise our many, many friends in Richmond and throughout Virginia that the Virginia Methodist Children’s Home does not authorize anyone to solicit funds. We are supported by the Methodist Church and many, many friends in Virginia. It is our understanding that such solicitation is illegal and we recommend that your local police be contacted, as any person using the , name of ^the Virginia Methodist Children’s/Home to that end is doing so under false pretense.

Attend Conference
Mrs. B. M. Miller and Mrs. G. H. Davis, Jr., treasurer and mayor respectively, of the Town of Washington, attended a two-day conference this week on Solid Waste Disposal Sites. The conference, held Monday and Tuesday, met at the Twin Bridges Marriott Motel.
Mrs. Miller was an over night guest Monday of Mr. and Mrs. E E. Federline in Arlington and Mrs Davis was the guest of Mrs Veronica Keating in D. C.
