lack of effectively controlling the ise of such detrimental plant products as tobacco, marijuana and heroin? The fact is, that all chemicals ire not bad. Those which are used >y farmers have saved millions of ives. In the U. S., where these chemicals have been used for many decades, we have the Wealthiest people the world has ever known. The use of chemicals by farmers is being effectively regulated. Their use must not be eliminated by the emotionalism of misguided individuals. Mankind would probably derive greater benefits if our efforts were more energetically directed toward the elimination or control of some of the deadly plants cited above. Farmers do practice organic gardening. Crop residues and animal manures are used to help maintain the productivity of their fields. Soil conservation practices are followed to save the land for future generations. But, to produce the high quality food which is demanded by the public, chemical fertilizers and pesticides must be used. And, when they are properly used they do not contaminate the edible product or the environment.
Country Ham Diner
Country ham will be feature of a dinner sponsored by Episcopal Dhurchwomen in Culpeper, Saturday, March 13. Dinner will be served in St. Stephen’s parish hall from 5:30 - 7:30 and tickets may be purchased in advance at Valley Music Co., 131 W. Davis St., Culpeper. The affair will precede the third and final Community Concert series for this season.
