After the reading and approval of the minutes of the previous meeting, the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors began the July meeting held Thursday by hearing from the highway resident engineer James K. Skeens reported on the progress of the bridge under construction between Rappahannock and Fauquier counties on Route 647. He said he was delighted with the project which he felt was going to be most satisfactory and the funds are being well spent.
Mr. Skeens also asked for a resolution for the abandonment of the old section of road and bridge near Slate Mills at Rudasill’s Mill, and reported the bridge is carrying traffic though the project is not complete. The resolution also requested the new bridge and approach be added to the secondary system. This was done.
He reported that his department did not at present have time to pave the parking lot at the rear of the courthouse and county buildings. However, he gave the names of several companies which may be contacted for estimates on the work.
