Miss Linda Ann Morris became the bride of John William Sparks jr. on Sunday, July 4, 1971 at four o’clock in the afternoon at Dyke, Virginia. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Robert L. Woodson of Stanardsville in the Gibson Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge School at Dyke. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thomas Morris of Dyke. She is the greatgranddaughter of Mrs. Tom Smoot of Washington, Va. Mr. Sparks is the son of Mrs. Sparks sr. of Barboursville and the late Mr. Sparks. Greens centered with candles were placed in the windows of the church and the altar was decorated with candles and gladioli.
Mrs. Virginia Eddins of Stanardsville was organist.
Mr. Morris gave his daughter in marriage. Her formal gown of white linen in an A-line silhouette was designed on Empire lines. The bodice of Venice lace had a high neckline and short sleeves. Covered buttons accented the front of the gown and the skirt ended in a chapel train. Her elbow-length veil of English illusion was attached to a demicap of lace and she carried a bouquet of yellow and apricot carnations centered with white roses.
