4-H’ers Tour D.C.
Last Wednesday 91 4-H’ers, parents and friends enjoyed an educational tour of the Washington Monument,, the Smithsonian Institution and Dulles International Airport. After a flat tire on one of the buses, the group met again at the Washington Monument where they took the elevator to the top of the 555 ft. shaft that contains windows providing a magnificent view of Washington. The group then moved to the Smithsonian Institution where they toured theMuseum of History and Technology. Here they viewed the foucault pendulum, antique autos, a Conestoga wagon, trains, and early American costumes, to mention a few items.
After lunch on the Smithsonian’s grounds, the group continued to Dulles International Airport. Here they were allowed to get on a mobile lounge which is used to transport passengers between the terminal building and the aircraft. They also saw a 747 ietliner land and unload.
They returned home after an enjoyable, educational and funfilled day.
