Amissville to Open
Carnival Wednesday
The annual carnival sponsored by the fire company and rescue squad in Amissville will open next Wednesday evening, August 18, and continue through Saturday, August 21. The carnival will offer rides, good food, games of many kinds, and a variety of prizes. A big parade will be the Thursday evening attraction and will begin at 6:30 p.m. Entries include floats, majorettes, beauty queens, marching units and fire and rescue equipment. A plate supper will be available on the grounds. A lovely young lady, one of seven contestants, will be selected Queen of festivities and she will receive her tiara in a ceremony Friday night. Saturday night will be climaxed with the awarding of prizes, including the grand prize, a 1971 Pinto. Second prize is a portable television and the next four prizes will be $25 Savings Bonds. Each night there will be fun and amusements for everyone, old and young and suitable entertainment for the entire family.
Church Notice
Elder Daily Hite of Marion, Ohio will be the guest speaker at the Sperryville Primitive Baptist Church (near Old Hollow) on Friday, August 13, at 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
