Public schools in Warren and Rappahannock Counties will open for the 1971-72 session on Monday, August 30. Classes will be dismissed at 2:00 p.m. opening day with full day schedule on August 31. Monday, September 6, will be observed as a holiday.
A pre-school conference for all administrators will be held at the E. Wilson Morrison School in Front Royal on August 19, and a meeting of all professional personnel will be held at the Fifteenth Street Elementary School there on Thursday, August 26.
An orientation program for all teachers new to the school system has been arranged for Monday, August 23. At the July meeting of the Rappahannock School Board, Robert G. Witten, was appointed teacher-assistant principal of Rappahannock County Elementary School effective August 2, 1971. A native of Pennsylvania, Mr. Witten received the Bachelor’s Degree from Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. He earned the Master of Education Degree from Slippery Rock College, Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. His area of specialization is Elementary Administration and Supervision.
