Miss Tholand Sustains Crash Injury
Carolyn Louise Tholand of Sperry ville sustained a concussion and scalp laceration in a single vehicle traffic crash August 4 on Route 231 south of Sperry ville. She was taken to Culpeper Memorial Hospital by Sperryville Rescue Squad. According to Trooper J. B. Willis, Miss Tholand was operating a 1964 Ford station wagon owned by Tholand, Inc. when she attempted to avoid striking a dog in the road and went over the bank. The vehicle was declared a total loss.

1972 Wheat Pro’ram
Participants in the 1972 wheat set-aside program may substitute barley, corn, grain sorghum, or soybeans for wheat and still earn program benefits and protect their wheat allotment history, according to State farm program official W. T. Powers. Also, there is no limit on wheat acreage. Mr. Powers pointed out that producers may grow their full allotment, or more than their allotment, and remain within the program. He explained that “setaside” does not mean diverting land from production of a specific crop. It means setting aside an acreage from a farm’s total potential crop production. Set-aside acreage for the 1972 wheat program program will be equal to 83 percent of a farm’s domestic wheat allotment, the maximum allowable under the law. This maximum set-aside was established because of the possibility of large grain supplies from this year’s harvest. In 1971 wheat set-aside acreage was 75 percent.
