WELL, VACATION is over and I am back in harness again. To say one is in harness implies that he is pulling his load; also that he is subject to certain conditions. The condition being that one is subject to the will of the person, or persons, that put you into harness in the first place.
Recently I read an article about a number of men who gathered to study expotential growth. They fed information of present conditions into a computer and came up with some disturbing conclusions. There is only enough of certain things to last thirty one years, that civilization can, under present uncontrolled conditions, can last less than one hundred years. It also has this to say ‘that as the end draws near, that as the common necessities of life become more scarce, the law of tooth and claw will prevail on an unprecedented scale.
Notice, the article stated “present conditions” which can be altered. It is advocated that industralization be curbed, that things be made to last. That everything possible be recycled. That the most stringent birth controls be adopted. Even so, we may have reached the point of no return. Over in the Old Testament there are words that go something like this, “If my people will turn from their wicked ways and seek my face, then I will hear from heaven, and will HEAL THEIR LAND.” □
