Traditionally a strong teacher - training institution, Longwood offers a liberal arts program and graduate degrees in English, history, and education. When founded in 1839, Longwood became Virginia’s first college for women and the nation’s fifth woman’s college. □

BRIDGE MEETING

Mrs. G.W. Smith Jr. entertained members of the.^ Washington Bridge Club and guests Thursday evening at her home in Flint Hill. Those present included Mrs. W.H. Massie Jr., Mrs. B.M. Miller, Mrs. E. M. Jones, Mrs. H. M. Keyser, Mrs. H. L. Smith, Mrs. E.D. Flynt, Mrs. Paul Miller and Mrs. Emory Russell. Prizes were given Mrs. Russell, Mrs. Keyser, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Massie. □
