Fire school

RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY Fire and Rescue Association is sponsoring its annual fire school which is scheduled for the next two weekends. Dates include Saturday and Sunday, September 30 and October 1 and Saturday and Sunday, October 7 and 8. This will be the eighth session of the school. The program will be held at the Amissville fire hall and carnival grounds from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Local instructors who will take part in the classes are Paul A. Poling and Braxton James, both of the Amissville Department. The training school committee is composed of Ennis Jenkins, Washington; Douglas Bywaters, Flint Hill and Mr. Poling. Braxton James is director of the school.

Classes will include breathing apparatus and protective clothing; structural fires, ladders,transportation hazards, fire-stream practices, pre-fire planning and electrical hazards. The fire training course encompasses 30 hours.

The training session is made available in conjunction with the State Board of Education and the local fire association using state funds. □
