A hearing date has been set for Vepco vs. Fauquier County and Citizens on November 8 through the 10th before the State Corporation Commission in the Blanton building in Richmond.
Vepco had originally filed suit in Circuit Court asking the court to “order approval” of the six new high voltage powerlines in Fauquier County.
But Judge Rayner Snead told Vepco attorneys that he wouldn’t hold a hearing on the company’s suit until after a hearing had been held before the State Corporation Commission under Virginia’s new environmental protection act.
Judge Snead made his decision after hearing arguments by Commonwealth’s Attorney John Alexander, special counsel L. Lee Bean and Hugo Blankingship, for a group of citizen intervenors, that this would be the quickest and most economical way to dispose of complicated questions involved. □
