The 1972 Virginia Big Game Trophy Contest will be held in Harrisonburg October 21 following regional contests for animals taken East and West of the Blue Ridge respectively, according to Game Biologist Max Carpenter who coordinates the Game Commission sponsored state competition.
Deer antlers, turkey wings and beards or bear skulls killed East of the Blue Ridge must first be entered in the Eastern Regional Contest in Newport News, October 7. Western trophies must first be entered in the regional competition October 19, 20 and 21 in Harrisonburg.
Winners from the regional contests are eligible to compete on the state level. Only animals taken during the 1971-72 season accompanied by the proper big game tag are eligible.
