Set-aside acreage maintenance checks, now being made on Rappahannock County farms, will continue through October.
“At least ten percent of the 129 farms participating in the 1972 set-aside program for wheat and feed grain will be visited before we finish,” said T.R. Taylor, Chairman of the County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation (ASC) Committee.
“Designated set-aside land will be visually checked to determine if it is being maintained in accordance with program provisions.”
He explained that producers who have set-aside acreage are required to take care of it by maintaining cover, controlling weeds, bushes and rodents, and guarding against erosion. Set-aside land may
