NATIONAL Park Service Director Ronald H. Walker has announced that National Park System signs and brochures soon will include metric as well as standard distance measurements.
Walker said that signs in the parks and pamphlets issued to visitors to these areas would be revised as soon as they became obsolete or are otherwise replaced or reissued. He explained that the conversion will begin in a number of heavily visited parks
