Mills Godwin, former governor of Virginia and candidate for that office in the November election, visited Rappahannock Saturday morning. A motorcade of staunch supporters met him at the gap on Front Royal mountain and escorted him through the county. The motorcade stopped at the Emporium in Sperryville where they were joined by local residents and a short campaign speech was made by Godwin. Godwin, right center is flanked by T. Morgan Johnston and E. M. Jones.
