RLEP meeting
THE RAPPAHANNOCK League for Environmental Protection, Inc. (RLEP) has scheduled a quarterly program meeting at 8 p.m. Friday, March 22, at the Courthouse in Washington, Va. The meeting is open to everyone in Rappahannock and nearby counties.
William T. Bolger, executive director of the Virginia Outdoors Foundation, will speak about the use of scenic and open space easements in land use planning. Robert R. Jacobsen, Superintendent of the Shenandoah National Park, will talk about plannirig for the Park’s future and issues that effect nearby private landowners. RLEP President Phil Irwin will briefly report on the status of the Vepco powerline case now before the State Corporation Commission.
A general discussion period will follow offering the audience a chance to ask specific questions or comment on the presentations.
RLEP sponsors these meetings every three months, bringing to Rappahannock noted speakers on varied topics and offering the public the opportunity to keep up to date on current thinking and approaches to environmental protection. Recent public meetings have included such subjects as land use taxation, strip mining, planning and zoning and sub-division ordinances.□
