In the evening, the address on “Laws That Affect Women” will include a discussion of the current status of women in the work force, certain aspects and rights under the Equal Opportunity Act, and some facts and fables about the Equal Rights Act. Even through the ERA was not reported out of committee in either the House of Delegates or the Senate during the recent session of the Virginia General Assembly, the Senate committee voted to carry it over until the session next year. This means that the resolution to ratify the amendment need not be introduced again and the Senate Committee will begin its deliberation on that subject at the very beginning of next year’s session.
Prouty, a certified public accountant, is a graduate of V.P.I. & S.U. with both a B.S. and M.S. degree from that school, and did further graduate work at the University of Alabama. He has been a visiting professor at Bloomfield College in New Jersey and a Faculty Fellow with Touche Ross and Company, certified public accountants and management consultants, in their New York office.
