a lovely little jumper. And I thought I was a great man when I started to jump a horse. Yes sir, I thought I was a great foxhunter when I could get on a nice horse and go galloping across the countryside to follow the hounds. Oh boy, I thought I was a real foxhunter in those days.
“One time, the hounds got away and I got separated and I could hear just one hound. I followed this one hound—oh, way, in the distance—and I caught up with him. He was coming back to where we left the crowd. And he led me right back to where the people were standing. They thought that hound would come back to where he’d left. Yes sir, I followed him all the way back and I thought that was the greatest achievement of my foxhunting career. Sticking with that hound.”
