“I’VE ridden horseback/ from here down to Mit/ chells, Virginia, which is 15 miles or more. We rode all the way, hacked down that is, and the hounds were following us on foot. We had a fine hunt after we got there. Hunted rest of the day; got the hounds in, spent the night and hacked back the next day. Mitchells is on the other side of the tracks, past Culpeper, part of Manly Carter’s Hunt before it was recognized. I joined up with them and went on down. I was the youngest one in the crowd but I just had to go. I loved it, that fox race.
