“THE THOUGHTS of boys are long, long thoughts.” Not that I consider myself a boy anymore, just the husk of a man. And that is another thought, a remembered epitaph.— Under the grass and under the trees, Here lies the body of Soloman Pease. Pease is not here, only the pod; Pease shelled out and went home to God. And that is not a bad thought, especially if your name is Pease, or you have friends by that name who have a right relationship with God. The thought I am thinking, that holds me “in its thrall” (Poe ?) is thought about the Law of Karma. We mentioned previously that this is an immutable law of God, “we reap what we sow.” But, does this same law work in reverse, suppose we didn’t sow at the proper time or the proper seed? The song says “sowing seeds ofkindness.” Even kindness sometimes has adverse effects; it will cause some people to take advantage of you. What to do, what to do? Now I want to pose a hypothetical question, I’m using the word hypothetical for want of a better word. Remember, I said HYPOTHETICAL. Question: or maybe hypothesis. A young man is in love with a young girl. Oh, she is beautiful and all that his heart desires is a life partner. But he hasn’t sowed his wild oats or had his fling. Then he realized he is not good enough for her, he hesitates.
Maybe she loves him too. She is just waiting for him to settle down. Then two unhappy people marry others for whom they do not have the kind of love that was intended for them to share.
Maybe two families have children that are unhappy because the parents are not happy. What kind of karmic debt does that person create? It is too horrendous to contemplate.
And how about the lazy lover that just waits for love to fall in his lap. Maybe she was too proud to love one who wouldn’t even speak of the love he felttill too late, he continued to sit, to think, to dream.
Dreams of days that have so long been ended.
But who was there to whispef, or to see
By the rose you tended
You leaned, to hide the splendid
Smile you kept, and kept in vain for me. Remember now—hypothetical.□.
