A GROUP of Rappahannock youths are engaged in summer baseball with the Fauquier Pony League. In the opening game Monday with Calverton at Rappahannock, the locals blasted with visitors 11-1.
Mike Smoot pitched 2-hit ball while striking out 10 and walking one. Rappahannock collected 11 hits led by a 2-nm home run by Larry Brown and a grand slam homer by Jay Miller.
Mike Smoot, Cecil Smoot and Hodge Miller collected 2 hits each. Aubrey Frye, Barry Atkins and Mike Jenkins also hit safely.
