RAPPAHANNOCK Supervisor’s appointed Fanning Baumgardner as building inspector, effective immediately, at their meeting last Thursday. However, they noted that Baumgardner will make no actual inspections until after September 1.
Virginia State law requires that each county “shall appoint a building inspector,” Commonwealth’s attorney George Davis noted. '
“Do they specify what will happen if we don’t?” H. B. Wood asked.
“No, not exactly,” Davis answered.
“Well, I hate another ‘you gotta’ from the state,” Wood said.
“I just think we should wait until we get stronger language,” he said. “Not for money reasons, but for freedom.”
