AREA FARM SHOW—Three Rappahannock 4-H’ers received honors at the Culpeper Area Farm Show. Donna Cannon’s home-raised 1140-pound Angus steer was Grand Champion. There were 32. steers from four counties and the competition was extremely keen. Donna’s steer was purchased by Safeway for a $1.01 per pound.
David Thornhill showed the second and third place i market hogs; the Reserve Champion Pen of three; the Grand Champion Boar and won the Senior Fit- • ting and Showing Contest, and the Sweep Stake A- 7 ward for the outstanding swine showman. David’s cross bred 1070 pound steer was purchased by ' Yowell’s Hardware. *
Beth Fannon’s Blue Satin rabbit won first in qua- j lity of fur and second in conformation. This rabbit j , is quite a remarkable individual, besides being a \ champion show rabbit, it is also house broken. When \ ■ ever it is necessary the rabbit hops all the way up- \ stairs to use its own bathroom facilities. I know this ; sounds like a Fannon story, but so help me it’a true^D ?
