Sometimes I sell some culls, like if they have spoilt bags or she has twins and is only giving milk out of one quarter. But if they’re in any shape at all I try to keep from selling them. The trip doesn’t pay to get rid of her.
“It’s a good idea not to be in such a hurry, though. I had one old ewe that wasn’t worth the cost of hauling her, so I didn’t get around to it. Since then she’s raised two lambs, good lambs.
“But if they do get sick, there’s not much you can do for thehi. So you’d just as well leave them alone until you get up a truckload of culls or lambs.
“It takes time and attention, sheep do,” Lee said. “Butconsidering all else we’ve got to do it doesn’t take that much more time than anything else.”
