as. a county want to bring suit. Ijuke said that the county should go ahead and take positive action for complying with state standards. “I don’t know at what point you get unaccredited. But I haven’t heard anyone in the county who wants to head in that direction.”
J. R. Latham said he knew the state required counties to implement a kindergarten program, but he wondered how specific they’d been in outling the terms of the program. Herbert Foster wondered if it would be possible to run a kindergarten program during the summer, so it wouldn’t require any extra expenditures for new school facilities.
GENERAL NOCE said that kindergarten, like any other program the schools start, should be done on a trial basis first.
“They ought to try it for a couple of years and then see if third graders who had kindergarten do that much better than third graders who didn’t,” he said. “Has there been such a trial?”
