Brown also mentioned the point about changing patterns of land ownership. “There are less farms than there used to be. Some of them are smaller, more split up, and some are consolidated, but there are less of them.”
“And there are some other problems,” Brown said. As the county gets more people, dogs get to be more trouble. It’s harder to get a shearer. And foot rot has probably discouraged some. You can treat it, but you have to keep the treated and the untreated separated, it means more management.”
“But the real difference is, to farm sheep you have to like sheep,” Brown said.
