For three years “Save Rappahannock” has been the fighting slogan carried on our vehicles in the long battle to block the threatened Vepco powerline. Last month the State Corporation Commission in Richmond granted Vepco the permit it sought. We lost a big round.
Should we now give up? Just roll over and let the army of bulldizers gouge out much of our most precious scenic and historic lands, surrender to the high steel towers that would permanently disfigure the landscape, surrender to the crackling tangle of electric blacksnakes above ground and to the projected huge natural gas mains below ground that would pose a constant hazard to our health and welfare?
