Following this meeting, Judge Moffett appeared before the Board of Supervisors with a letter from Judge William Carson of the General District Court. Judge Carson’s letter informed the Supervisors that extra space is needed by the courts and that he wanted the two rooms on the ground floor of the courthouse now used by the voting registrar and the zoning office.
UNDER Virginia law, it is the responsibility of a county Board of Supervisors to provide sufficient space for the conduct of the courts, including record-keeping. Commonwealth’s Attorney Georges Davis explained that “the Courts would like to make this a request, but under the statutes, it could be an order with a wit of mandamus.”

Settle has successfully combed the area for artists with long, short or even no hair. At present the program features 25 entries who will compete for the $75 prize money to be awarded in three age classes.
