“Labor Department statistics show that the majority of job openings are in service-related fields,” said Masterson. He feels that there is a greater chance a student will complete his education if he feels assured his job possibilities are increased and Masterson is sure that the differentiated diploma program will increase a graduate’s job possibilities.
It may not be feasible to implement a program of this type in the Rappahannock schools because of scheduling difficulties due to lack of adequate classroom space, but Walter Masterson would like to see the possibilities explored.—Daphne McCullough
