phone offers of pesticide bargains. For the second year reports are being received of farmers being offered special agreements to purchase pesticides which are not as represented in the telephone call.

The usual procedure is a call from an articulate salesperson making spectacular claims for a particular pesticide (usually a herbicide). Upon receipt of the product, the farmer finds to his dismay that not only is the product not effective for his needs, it is billed at many times the price discussed on the telephone.

In most instances, the prospective purchaser is led to believe the product is an emulsifiable concentrate to be further diluted, only to find that the product is already diluted and must be used as it comes from the container.

All farmers are urged to beware of calls from strangers offering pesticides for sale at a so-called bargain price. It is good business to buy from your reputable local supplier. □
