Mr. and Mrs. H. Taylor Updike of Washington announce the engagement of their daughter, Gail E. Updike to Darrell W. Newland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold D. Newland of Annandale. Miss Updike is currently teaching in Fauquier County. Mr. Newland will receive his Masters degree in Business Administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in June. A fall wedding is planned. C
