Thus it was decided to head her towards the point-to-point races in the spring of 1969. Her start at Casanova was followed that year by Rappahannock, Piedmont and Oatlands. She won them all.
THIS WAS the beginning of one of the most memorable steeplechasing careers in American history which extended over seven years. In the Know won ten consecutive point-to-point races. Of the 14 point to point races she ran she won 12, was second one time and unplaced one time when injured..
She ran and won at Hunt meetings along the Eastern Seaboard winning many, including the National Hunt Cup in 1970. To rub more salt into the wounds of her breeder-owner who disowned her as a three-year old, she ran ancf won at major tracks (Monmouth Park and Delaware Park) where she was one of the great favorites with Hie public.
In 1973 she took time out to procreate. Her now three-yearold filly by Royal Warrior, by the name of Known Royal, is going to try to fill her mama’s shoes starting next year.
IN 1974 In the Know came back to the point-to-point wars and won again. It was that year—her last in competition—that she took the newly established First Colony
