However by comparing the two calendar years the National Park Service reports that visits to the Shenandoah National Park are up 8.5%. To date in the calendar year 1976 there have been 1,056,700 visitors compared to 974,200 for the same period in 1975. Overnight stays for 1976 have also increased from 203,762 visits reported in 1975 to 220,172 this year.
The breakdown of the visits to the National Park for June 1976 by sub-districts were 72,300 at Front Royal; 104,600 at Panorama; 31, 900 at Big Meadows and 57,900 at Simmons Gap.
