Vacancy

Again?

The School Board took two steps forward at last week’s meeting when its members voted to fill both administrative positions at the Rappahannock Elementary School. The Board approved acting principal Graham Spencer as the new principal and Charlotte Lambeth as assistant principal.

Now it appears that the Board may have to take one step backward. An informed source told the News on Tuesday that Miss Lambeth has turned down the position, primarily because she has committed herself to a doctoral program at the University of Virginia.

This leaves the assistant principal’s position vacant with Spencer forced to continue performing the duties of two full-time administrators. Apparently, the School Board will have to begin again with the time consuming task of interviewing prospective candidates.
