Q.: “What is your opinion of that letter that went out over the Congressman’s name?”
Dalton: “The letter was a rather strong letter. It probably was a little stronger than I am accustomed to writing but it is a matter the Congressman would have to address. I’m not involved in that organization whatsoever and as a matter of fact, the four names I’ve seen mentioned in the newspaper as having been officers in the association, I don’t think I know two of them. I may recognize them if I saw them, but I don’t recognize them.”
Q.: "Congressman Robinson, did you know that, would you, that’s the first statement in that letter that says Howell was in favor of busing Virginia students. Is that a correct statement?”
Robinson: “It is not a correct statement, to my regret it appears in the letter. The fact that I had the busing headed the wrong way across the bridge across the Potomac is something that is not factual and it was an omission on my part in reading the rough draft of the letter. The knowledge is well known that the statement that is referred to has to do with D.C. children being bused into Virginia, not Virginia children being bused into the District of Columbia. I regret that I had to survey that rough draft very quickly in between votes being pulled off the floor of the Congress at the time that it was approved. It was an omission on my part.”
Q.: “Mr. Dalton, Congressman Robinson’s letter describes Mr. Howell as a radical. Do you feel Mr. Howell is a radical?”
