Woodward
Mrs. Mary Josephine Woodward of Vienna died Sunday. December 23, 1979, in Fairfax Hospital. She was 82.
Born October 1, 1897. in Rappahannock County, she was the daughter of the late John and Adelia Compton and wife of the late George W. Woodward. Mrs. Woodward was a member of the Gourdvine Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son. Dr. Kenneth E. Woodward of Vienna; and two grandchildren,1 two sisters; Mrs. Florrie Estes of Springfield and Mrs. Olive Bywaters of Baltimore, Md., Five brothers; Clifford Compton of Culpeper. Granville Compton of Annandale, Charles Compton of Alexandria. Eulis Compton of Rixeyville and Irvin Compton of Landover, Md.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, at Clore Funeral Home in Culpeper, Rev. John S. Farrar officiating. Internment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper.
After the American Revolution, John Paul Jones served briefly as an admiral in the Russian navy.
