The Sperrvville Volunteer Rescue Squad is one of 17 units to receive a total of $120,000 in grants form the Virginia Rescue Squads Assistance Fund.

The Sperryville squad was awarded $050 for communications equipment in a matching 50-50 grant.

The Rescue Squads Assistance Fund was established by the 1978 General Assembly and received an appropriation of $500,000 for the 1978-80 biennium. The purpose of the fund is to provide financial aid to rescue squads and other emergency medical services agencies in Virginia that operate on a non-profit basis solely for the benefit of the general public.
